We just learned a *little* bit more about the plot of “Jurassic World 2,” and we are ready
We’re still two years away from seeing Jurassic World 2, and recently, we’ve learned a few tidbits about the film: Chris Pratt is back, Bryce Dallas Howard won’t be wearing heels, and also, dinosaurs (duh). While the plot for the film is basically contained inside a fossilized amber right now (read: it’s top secret), the film’s director just spilled that it will have a “political element” to it.
Dinosaurs and politics? Sure!
ComingSoon.net recently talked with Jurassic World 2 director J.A. Bayona about the upcoming film. They mentioned that previous films showed that the dinosaurs were being exploited. That commercialization has featured in all the films to some extent, and brings a more political element to them.
“I think there’s a lot of that in the new Jurassic," Bayona explained. "I think there’s a lot of possessiveness towards our creations. I think it’s very interesting where the new movie is heading. It’s so different from the other films, it talks a lot about the moment we live in right now. It’s darker…
So, on the one hand, the new film will be tonally different from the others. Yet, it seems, a political undercurrent will still be present. Of course, any movie set in a world where there’s a dangerous dinosaur theme park is probably going to be a *little* political.
Bayona assures that Jurassic World 2 isn’t all doom and gloom, though. “…but at the same time it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s a blockbuster, you have Chris Pratt, it’s a great adventure, but it’s very interesting the way the film is darker than the other ones.”
If we still get all that adventure we love, we’re on board (Especially now that we don’t have to worry about Bryce Dallas Howard tripping and breaking an ankle). Jurassic World 2 hits theaters in June 2018, and we’re basically counting down the days till then.
