Julianne Hough shared a throwback pic of that time she was an extra in “The Sorcerer’s Stone”
It’s easy to forget that famous people haven’t actually been well-known their whole lives. AKA there was a time when they were just starting off in the entertainment industry, getting jobs as background actors, and going on a million auditions. Julianne Hough recently posted throwback photos from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (yes, as in, the OG Harry Potter movie), back when she was just a humble extra. June 26th was the 20th anniversary of the book series’s launch, so Hough reminisced about her first credited role all the way back in 2001.
And what was her role, you ask? Why, she was a smiley Gryffindor.
"Happy 20th Anniversary Harry Potter! Remember that one time when I was 11 and a Gryffindor? Oh and apparently liked flirting with the Weasley twins?"
Awwwww. This makes us wanna go watch the movie to spot her in the crowd. And TBH, we’re kinda jealous that Hough got to spend quality time with the Gryffindors. Also, it’s not surprising at all that she recalls having a teensy crush on Harry Potter himself.
"I gave him a love note and a Beanie Baby for Valentine’s Day, Hough told People. "I didn’t personally give it to him because I was just an extra, but I gave it to his assistant or PA that was working with him. I don’t know if he ever got it, but Daniel: I just want to know if you got it! Come on! I just wanna know if you got it!"
Yup, Radcliffe was very crushworthy as Harry Potter. Who doesn’t love a young wizard who’s just beginning to learn how powerful he is?
Now onto another pressing matter. Given our love of food, we can totally understand why Hough’s greatest memory from being in the Harry Potter movie involves eating numerous plates of prop food. “…I remember there was a Great Hall scene where we were eating breakfast, and I remember: I ate like seven or eight full English breakfasts because I didn’t realize that you kind of just fake it and maybe take a little bit of a bite,” she told People. Don’t sweat it…we would have done the same thing, girl! (Even if we knew the rule.)
Okay, if you ARE about to re-watch Sorcerer’s Stone (seems like the appropriate thing to do), look out for Julianne’s brother Derek as well — he’s a member of Ravenclaw. Yup, being a Harry Potter extra was a family affair. So cool that they both started off in the magical world of Hogwarts.
