Julianne Hough’s sheer Emmys gown with cutouts is an ode to every trend of 2017
No stranger to the fashion scene, Julianne Hough knows exactly which trends du jour are ramping up. And instead of picking just one for her 2017 Emmys red carpet dress, she picked them all.
The Dancing with the Stars judge slipped into an ethereal, cherry blossom-festooned Marchesa gown for the evening, turning more than a few heads in the process. Fresh off the spring 2018 runway that showed at New York Fashion Week, the black and pink number embodied all the biggest, boldest red carpet trends we’ve seen in 2017.
There were 3-D floral appliques. There were cutouts. There were asymmetrical shoulders. And, yes, sheer fabric galore.
Très bien, Julianne Hough!
Falling into a full tulle skirt with a dramatic train, the Marchesa dress did not want for drama. Which made it a perfect choice for the professional dancer, as her signature red carpet style is marked by plenty of high-octane glamour.
To accessorize the darkly glam design, Julianna opted to pull her long blonde locks back into a loose ponytail with a long satin ribbon. Aldo heels and ample diamond jewels completed the look.
While the prevailing trends on last night’s red carpet included emerald-green gowns, high-wattage sequins, and tea-length designs, Julianne’s dress embodied all the best red carpet trends we’ve seen all year-long. And all without making the dress feel busy or distracting. That’s a hugely impressive red carpet feat, folks.
All in all, this Marchesa confection is one for the best-dressed books.
