Julianne Hough has the most refreshing perspective on carbs

What to eat, and what not to eat. That is the eternal (usually unanswered) question! But don’t worry, our favorite celebrity dancer is coming to the rescue with a super down-to-earth perspective. In an interview with Us Weekly, Julianne Hough revealed how she stays sane while knee-deep in wedding planning. And yes that includes her eating habits; specifically what she eats to energize her body before a show or a workout. We are ALL EARS.

"It’s all about moderation, but I realized that carbs are often talked about in a negative context, like, “Carbs make me fat or bloated. But I think for me, I have to have some sort of carb, whether it’s rice or pasta or bread or whatever it is, and not big amounts, but I do need carbs because it makes my brain click on."

We’re genuinely happy to hear this from a glamorous celeb who’s also known for valuing her health. Because it’s absolutely true — sometimes “carb” can seem like a dirty word in our culture, and it’s nice to know that other people also feel like they can’t really function without them.

And really, it comes down to whatever makes you and your body feel good; whether that be carbs or something else. We’re glad that Hough has found what works for her, and we’re super excited for her wedding!  She and fiancé, Brooks Laich, are an utterly adorable couple. In the same interview, she mentioned that they go to bed early, around 10pm — because “sleep is very important [to Brooks].” Awwww.

As for the wedding itself, Hough explained to People that she’s not interested in losing weight for the big day, because she actually wants to look like herself…and we LOVE that perspective.
