Julia Roberts doesn’t watch her niece on American Horror Story for this very relatable reason
Emma Roberts is currently starring in American Horror Story: Apocalypse, in which she reprises her AHS: Coven role as Madison Montgomery. The eighth season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series, for those who haven’t tuned in yet, is a crossover between the Coven and Murder House seasons—aka it’s wild. Despite Roberts’s role on the popular FX series, her very famous aunt, Julia Roberts, doesn’t watch it for a relatable reason. Apparently AHS is just too scary for Julia, and honestly—we get it. Some of us can’t even handle the billboards for AHS: Apocalypse because of that scary demon baby.
Emma told ET that Julia won’t watch the show because it’s too damn scary. “She’s too scared! I’m basically too scared to watch it even,” Emma said at the premiere of her new movie In a Relationship.
“Because when you’re shooting it, it’s not scary and then…they add in all the effects and cut it together, Emma added. “I mean, I sometimes watch it with my eyes closed. I don’t blame her.
If Julia was already turned off to the idea of watching the show, Emma says it’s only going to get worse.
“I mean, it just gets crazier and crazier. We were getting the scripts and we were all like, ‘Really?!’ she added. “So get ready for a crazy, crazy finale, which we just finished shooting last week. Lots of blood.
Julia also told Entertainment Weekly recently that she told her niece, “Emma, sweetheart, I don’t think I can watch this show that you’re in.” Emma then described to her aunt how her character loses an arm in a grotesque way and Julia point-blank said: “I don’t watch things like that.” Listen, the woman knows what she wants and what she won’t watch. Sorry, not sorry.
