Julia Michaels’ “Issues” video perfectly sums up how difficult being in love can be

Rising singer, and songwriter for the likes of Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, and Selena Gomez, Julia Michaels, just shared her debut music video and it’s a fitting reminder that being in love can be pretty tricky.

We’ve been pretty obsessed with Julia Michaels ever since we were given a taste of her her debut single “Issues” earlier this year. The singer has also picked up famous fans in the shape of Selena Gomez, Hailee Steinfeld, and Fifth Harmony. What’s more, she’s written music for and with them all too, along with the likes of Justin Bieber (Michaels co-wrote “Sorry”), Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, and Ed Sheeran. “Issues” even cracked the Billboard Hot 100 Top 30, which is impressive for someone’s debut single!

Now Julia Michaels has shared her first music video, and we absolutely love it.

The clip sees Michaels bring the lyrics to her song alive. The track deals with the complications of the heart, and the video sees her embroiled in what is insinuated to be a relationship complete with ups and downs. Tbh, we love how real it feels, as she sings “I got issues, and one of them is how bad I need ya.”

What’s more, Michaels is rocking a seriously glitzy ’70s style outfit in the video that we are OBSESSING over. Tbh, it’s the sort of thing that Elton John would have worn back in the day, and that is most definitely a good thing.

Amazing.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song and why she decided to keep it for herself, Michaels told MusicWeek, that it was just too personal.

“It really is all of the issues I deal with on a daily basis. I felt uncomfortable with someone else singing my life,” she said. “It’s my life when I sing these words. It’s one thing to write it and another to emote it.”

Meanwhile, Julia Michaels has been nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming Radio Disney Music Awards, and we’re pretty sure that 2017 is going to be HUGE for her!

“Issues” is available now.
