Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Emmys acceptance speech was the most emotional moment of the night
Last night (September 18th) the Emmys took place in Los Angeles, California, and they were a CRAZY affair.
Not only did we see the likes of Sarah Paulson finally win an award after being nominated SEVEN (!) times (and she totally slayed us on the red carpet), but Kerry Washington wowed us with a cape, and Game of Thrones totally owned the night, breaking records for the show with the most Emmy wins for a fictional show ever.
Also picking up an award at the Emmys last night was Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The 55-year-old star picked up the Emmy for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy Series for the sixth time, breaking the record for the most amount of wins of the award in that category. The win also marked the actress’ fifth consecutive win for the role of career politician Selina Meyer on HBO’s Veep.
Taking the stage gracefully to accept her award, Julia gave an impassioned and heartfelt speech.
After thanking the academy, friends, producers, and apologizing to the crew for making them work long hours, Julia went on to say that she wanted to apologize for the current political climate, too.
"I think that Veep has torn down the wall between comedy and politics," she said. "Our showstarted started out as a political satire, it now feels like a sobering documentary. So I certainly do promise to rebuild that wall and make Mexico pay for it."

Continuing, Julia ended her speech with an emotional shout-out to her late father.
"Lastly, I'd like to dedicate this to my father William Louis-Dreyfus who passed away on Friday" she said, her hand shaking and her voice cracking. "I'm so glad that he liked Veep because his opinion was the one that really mattered."

The actress then left the stage visibly emotional and we’re actually crying.
Many people on social media came out in support of Julia.

That wasn’t the end of the surprises for Julia, however, as Veep also picked up the Emmy for the Outstanding Comedy Series, too.
The star made a brief tumble as she ascended the stairs, but styled it out like a pro.
