Julia Louis-Dreyfus just announced that she has breast cancer, and we are sending her all our best
We have some very sad news to report: Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The actress posted a signed note to Twitter on Thursday:
"1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one. "The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."

We are so sorry to hear about Louis-Dreyfus’ diagnosis.
But we are so proud of her for fighting for better access to health care for all women.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Louis-Dreyfus received the diagnosis on September 18th, the day after she won the award for Best Actress at the Emmys for her role in HBO’s Veep (her record-breaking sixth year winning in a row). The network said that the diagnosis played no role in the decision to end Veep after its seventh season, and production will accommodate Louis-Dreyfus’ health as need be.
"Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time," HBO told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. "We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep."
