This Democratic congresswoman brilliantly copied Melania Trump’s RNC outfit

When Melania Trump made her speech at the Republican National Convention earlier this month, many people thought it sounded a bit…familiar. Turns out that’s because large chunks of it had been lifted verbatim from a speech Michelle Obama gave at the Democratic National Convention in 2008. A Trump staffer eventually admitted to plagiarism and offered her resignation, which the Trump campaign declined.

For better or for worse, Melania’s speech—and her white dress—was unforgettable. Which is why when Democratic Congresswoman Joyce Beatty took the stage at the DNC yesterday, everyone instantly realized that her dress looked a bit…familiar.

It might have taken a second to place it, but when Twitter made the connection, the collective reaction was something along the lines of OH SNAP.

So, was Joyce making a dig at Melania’s tendency to “borrow” from others? Joyce claims the dress was just a gift from her husband and she didn’t wear it with an ulterior motive.

We’ll let you decide if this #twinning moment was an unintentional slip-up or a calculated commentary, but either way, you can’t deny this political season has been full of unexpected twists and turns.

Who knows what’s next. Maybe Donald will show up at a campaign stop rocking Hillary’s white pantsuit?
