We’re just slightly obsessed with Joseph Gordon Levitt’s rad new wife

Hey, remember when we all collectively fell in love with Joseph Gordon-Levitt after his leading man turn in (500) Days of Summer? I remember that time fondly, and I’ve carried a huge crush on him ever since, like many, many others out there. From his widely impressive artist collaboration, hitRECord Joe, to his stance on feminism (he’s a feminist!!) there are countless reasons to love him. And since I’m a firm believer in the idea that awesome people deserve other awesome people —I’m raising a virtual glass to JGL and his new wife, Tasha McCauley.

The first thing I did when we found out they got hitched was offer a mental Mazel Tov to the newlyweds. And the second thing I did was voraciously Google search Tasha. What? I obviously assumed she was pretty cool, but wait you guys, she’s actually kind of the coolest. Here’s what I discovered thanks to buttons on a keypad and a screen I gaze at about 20 hours a day.

1. Tasha is a robot scientist.

Yes, you read that right. A ROBOT SCIENTIST. She is co-founder of a robotics company named Fellow Robots. Fellow Robots is housed at a NASA research facility in San Francisco. Fellow Robots makes robots that are used in retail, transportation, and personal assistance. Their website says: “When most think about robots, we might think R2D2 and C3PO from Star Wars. But is this reality or science fiction? What if we could have a buddy to help guide us in the right direction, answer the difficult questions, help us make smart decisions?”

Um, yes please. I’d like her to come to my next cocktail party and nerd out with me.

2. Seriously, she is ridiculously smart

Tasha speaks three languages — English, Spanish and Arabic — has her masters in business and taught robotics and artificial intelligence at Singularity University.

3. Tasha has a surprising superpower

Know how sometimes you’re asked that awkward ice breaker question if “if you had one superpower, what would it be?” and you freak out for a second and then stammer, “flying!” OK, well Tasha smartly said she already had a superpower: “My nervous system, which processes the world in ways I can’t even comprehend. I get a fantastic free ride on systems that have been optimized by millions of years of evolution.” Stealing that answer.

4. Her 18 Tweets are sheer perfection

While JGL might tweet multiple times throughout the course of the day, Tasha isn’t all about the social media site. JGL has described her before as shying away from the public’s eye, stating, “The girl that I’m with, she really doesn’t want to be a part of that.” There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

However, the few times she has let us into her private life, it’s been spot on. Her Twitter avatar is the best (That hat? Where can I get one. Also, is she about to dive into icy cold waters?? Yes she is, she’s in Antarctica.) and when she does post to Instagram, it’s about her friendships and her personal achievements — like receiving her MBA from USC. No bigs.

5. Tasha is basically the future

Now this is getting embarrassing, but yes, I did a DEEP-DIVE search and found this killer video of a speech she gave at a robotics conference. Not only is she a really good, super-chill public speaker, she also taught me some things I didn’t know about telepresence robots. Because of course she did. Love this lady.
