Joseph Gordon-Levitt shared a throwback photo from 10 Things I Hate About You, so we’re definitely re-watching today
When it comes to ’90s rom-coms, there are countless classics: Clueless, Pretty Woman, Never Been Kissed—we could go on and on. But there’s one late ’90s flick we keep returning to, no matter how many years pass or how many times we’ve seen it: 10 Things I Hate About You. March 31st marked the 21st anniversary of the film. (Where does time go?) And in commemoration, star Joseph Gordon-Levitt posted a behind-the-scenes picture of the cast on Twitter, and we’re feeling all the feelings.
Gordon-Levitt—who played everyone’s favorite shy high-schooler, Cameron—paid tribute to the friends and memories he made while making 10 Things I Hate About You.
“All of us were friends and spent so much time together that whole summer,” he wrote on Twitter. “Nothing but love for all the wonderful memories I had making that movie.”
The photo is truly an A-list crew. Aside from Gordon-Levitt, there’s Julia Stiles, Gabrielle Union, Larisa Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, David Krumholtz, and the late Heath Ledger.

We love hearing that the whole cast were friends IRL. And we’ll forever wish we could be flies on the wall during “that whole summer,” as Gordon-Levitt puts it. The cast looks so cozy in this pic, and the guys are killing the smize. (That is, besides Krumholtz. But would we expect any less of the guy who played Michael?)
There are so many different character dynamics going on in this photo. We have a rare, genuine smile from Kat. Apparently Chastity and Bianca are still BFFs, and shallow queen bee Chastity doesn’t mind being so close to tech-geek Michael. Finally, why is Bianca’s arm on Joey’s shoulder right in front of Cameron? We know these are actors, but we’ll be fiercely Team Cameron forever.
In case you somehow missed it, the 1999 film is a modernization of William Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. It has everything a good rom-com needs: A relatable setting (a Seattle high school), outlandish humor (ahem, Allison Janey as Ms. Perky, guidance counselor/erotica writer), a heartthrob who makes grand gestures (who could forget Heath Ledger’s dance sequence?), and that all-star cast.
We just found the perfect thing to do today while we practice social distancing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic: Re-watch 10 Things I Hate About You for the 100th time. Okay, and maybe again for the 101st time tomorrow.
