Jordyn Woods just revealed the message in her gorgeous new script tattoo
We love a good celebrity tattoo, and it’s always fun to try to decode the meaning behind our faves’ latest ink. Jordyn Woods, for example, recently added a stunning script tattoo to her arm. Now, we have a closer look at the ink and the message behind it.
According to People.com, Woods first unveiled her new ink at an UOMA Beauty Summer House party in Los Angeles on August 10th. Then, on August 13th, the 21-year-old model’s tattoo was on full display at the 47 Meters Down: Uncaged premiere. Her brother, John, was reportedly the artist behind her new tattoo. The Daily Mail notes that paparazzi spotted her leaving a tattoo parlor on August 7th.
Per People.com, the line of cursive script on her arm reads “What’s meant for me will never miss me,” a reference to a quote from Muslim theologian, writer, and scholar Al-Shafi’i.
Al-Shafi'i's full quote reads: "My heart is at ease knowing that what was meant for me will never miss me, and that what misses me was never meant for me."
Woods shared pictures from the premiere to her Instagram, and you can just make out the teeny-tiny script on her arm. From far away, the effect is subtle and pretty—surprisingly minimalist considering how much space it takes up.
Woods hasn’t said what inspired her to get the words inked on her forearm, so it’s not clear what these words really mean. But back in February, news broke that Woods had been seen kissing Tristan Thompson, Khloé Kardashian’s on-and-off boyfriend and the father of her child. Thompson’s reported cheating caused a highly publicized rift between Woods and the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, and on a March episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk, Woods said that nothing else happened between her and Thompson.
It seems possible that Woods’ new tattoo is an allusion to this drama, but again, we can’t say for sure. It’s equally possible that she just really likes the quote. For now, the true meaning behind her tattoo is something that only she knows—and we wouldn’t blame her if she wants to keep it that way.
We do know one thing: Woods’ new tattoo looks great on her, and its message is definitely worth keeping in mind.
