There’s a new Joni Mitchell-inspired restaurant in LA
Boutique restaurants are a dime a dozen in Los Angeles, so it takes a little something extra if an eatery wants to stand out from the crowd. Inspired by “the famed Laurel Canyon bungalows of Joni Mitchell and ‘Mama’ Cass Elliot,” newly opened Estrella is just the thing any LA food-lover is looking for. The West Hollywood restaurant sounds like an absolute dream, featuring artsy decor; relaxed, Bohemian vibes; and, of course, an expansive menu of delicious food and drink.
“Estrella, named after the circus girl from the Mitchell song ‘Ladies of the Canyon,’ evokes a time when food, music, artistry, and community all coexisted under one canopy,” the restaurant’s website reads. “Guests will dine on globally inspired dishes from Executive Chef Dakota Weiss on an expansive outdoor terrace lined with a golden wood trellis, and hung with colorful glass pendants, twinkling lights, and locally sourced plants.”
According to Vanity Fair, there’s even a cocktail named after Mitchell: A bourbon, grapefruit, lime, and pomegranate molasses concoction, that has us ready for happy hour. (For those who aren’t LA-based, VF has the recipe right here.) Needles to say, we’re ready to book our tables at Estrella now.
But just in case all of that isn’t enough to sway you, the restaurant also has an intimate 55-seat screening room for all your auditorium needs — if you’re into that kind of thing.
“Plush velvet loveseats in hunter green are complemented by walnut trims and beautiful copper wall sconces,” the website continues. “State-of-the-art audio and video components, including a 4k digital projector and 9.2 Dolby surround sound, comingle with the art deco aesthetic, transforming the cozy space into a modern private cinema.”
We couldn’t think of a more perfect way to pay homage to the living legend.
