Jonathan Van Ness could officiate your wedding—here’s how
After two amazing seasons of Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot, we’ve become convinced that there’s basically nothing the Fab Five can’t do. And if, like us, you would jump at the chance to spend a day hanging out with one of them, we have good news: Now, thanks to a new contest from Elysian Brewing and Seattle Pride, Jonathan Van Ness could officiate your wedding.
According to a press release, the Fab Five’s grooming expert himself will preside over a wedding on June 4th at Elysian Brewing’s Capitol Hill Brewpub. The date in question not only falls during Pride Month, but it also marks the one-year anniversary of date that the Supreme Court ruled that a Colorado baker didn’t have to provide a cake for a same-sex couple’s wedding.
"I’m so excited to team up with Elysian Brewing during Seattle Pride to share the message that all people should be free and proud to express themselves as they are," Van Ness said in a statement provided by Elysian Brewing. "I can’t wait for June!"
The rules for entering the contest are pretty straightforward: If you and your sweetheart are planning to tie the knot, simply share a video about your love story on Instagram between today, April 29th and Friday, May 10th. Use the hashtags #MarryUsJVN and #Contest, and don’t forget to tag both @ElysianBrewing and @SeattlePride. (Also, make sure your profile is public!)
The press release notes that Van Ness was chosen for this special partnership with Elysian Brewing because of the way he encourages people to be true to themselves and is willing to speak out against hate.
"I want Elysian to always be a safe place where anyone within our network can show up as their authentic selves," Elysian Co-Founder Joe Bisacca said in a statement. "You don’t need to change who you are to make other people feel comfortable."
This magical wedding will also coincide with the return of Elysian’s GLITTERis Pride Ale, which will be available on June 1st. Sales of the ale, named the official beer of Seattle and San Francisco Pride, will benefit both organizations.
We have no doubt that a wedding officiated by JVN will be nothing short of incredible. Good luck to everyone who enters this contest!
