‘Mean Girls’ News Alert: Jonathan Bennett Joins ‘Dancing with the Stars’
Dancing with the Stars returns oh so soon and we’re oh so excited because one fetch dude is going to be on the show. Indeed, Jonathan Bennett, better known as Mean Girls’ Aaron Samuels will be vying for the top spot on DWTS.
What has Jonathan been up to since Mean Girls, you may ask? I have the answers. He’s been hosting the MTV singing competition Copycat, for one. Yes, he’s had time to become a certified spin instructor, but he’s also been working steadily, filming at least a few movies a year for the last decade. Though none has made as big a splash as Mean Girls, obviously. But he was reunited with former costar Lacey Chabert for the TV movie Elevator Girl and even popped up for a bit part in Rachel McAdams’ Morning Glory.
He’s also an anti-bullying advocate, playing his part in the Love is Louder project. The project aims to empower young people and offer support to victims of bullying. You go, Glen Coco!
The DWTS cast rounds out its roster with a variety of folks you’ll want to see strut their stuff. We’ve got actors/performers like Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton from Fresh Prince), Janel Parrish (Original A/Mona from Pretty Little Liars), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future FTW!), Cheech and Chong’s Tommy Chong, and soap star Antonio Sabato Jr.
We’ve got your athletes like Olympian Lolo Jones, UFC champ Randy Couture, and NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip. And the grab bag celebs like fashion designer/icon Betsey Johnson, Duck Dynasty heiress Sadie Robertson, talk show host Tavis Smiley, and YouTube star Bethany Mota.
It’s tough to say who to vote for—you know Alfonso’s gonna pull out those classic Carlton moves, but Lea Thompson might have those ’80s dance steps down pat. And you can’t discount Lolo Jones, the woman’s got the legs to take it all. But Betsey has that whole style thing going on. And Jonathan Bennett definitely has something to prove and will most likely want to break out from behind Aaron Samuels‘ shadow.
