Jon Stewart answers all of our burning questions about ‘The Daily Show’
Jon Stewart’s last episode of The Daily Show is nigh — but lucky for us, the long-term host is closing out his tenure with a bang.
Earlier this week, The Daily Show released a highlight reel of the best questions Stewart has received during his pre-show audience Q&A. The video is riffing at its best, and Stewart is clearly in his element. He fields questions ranging from his favorite person to poke fun of (“Do you watch the program?”) to his biggest regrets (they’re drug-related) to his least favorite part of the job (“The worst part of any job is that they make you go there.”). He even talks retirement plans and his inevitable return to stand-up.
“That’s how I started, and I’m sure that’s how I will end,” Stewart says in the video. To make the whole thing even better, he was spotted last night giving an impromptu set at New York’s legendary Comedy Cellar — so it’s obvious he can’t resist the mic. (Or, as Time put it, “Jon Stewart Did a Stand-Up Set So Now We Can All Speculate Wildly.”)

Amidst the hilarity, however, there was also quite a bit of sincerity during the Q&A — and in these last precious episodes, Stewart is working hard to make sure our biggest Daily Show questions are finally answered.
On Tuesday night, correspondents Jordan Klepper and Hasan Minhaj joined Stewart for an interrogation-style segment called “Askhole.” Continuing the theme of Monday’s Q&A, the two pressure Stewart to answer questions viewers submitted via Twitter. When he inevitably answers the questions with a joke — this is Jon Stewart we’re talking about, after all — Klepper and Minhaj use various intimidation tactics to get him to be truthful. It gets very weird, and very amazing, very fast.
In the segment, Stewart dishes on his favorite guests (his friends, plus Jimmy Carter), and even plays “Kill, Screw, Marry” with his BFFs Larry Wilmore, Stephen Colbert, and John Oliver. (I won’t spoil his answer.) But perhaps most notably for long-time fans, Stewart also reveals what exactly it is that he’s scribbling on those blue papers throughout the show.
For those who don’t know, the blue papers are the show’s script — and our beloved host is writing on them 24/7. As the clip reveals, it turns out that Stewart is just drawing the same two faces over and over again. You’ll have to see what they look like for yourself.
