Jon Snow lovers, you’re not alone — Obama was bummed about the last episode of ‘GoT’ too

The final episode of this season of Game of Thrones threw us all for a heck of a loop. If you’re not caught up yet, PLEASE stop reading now, this is your official warning, here be GOT spoilers.

(But seriously, how have you been on the internet for the past few weeks and not seen all the Jon Snow headlines? Barring hiding under a rock without wifi access, this is a most impressive feat.)

Here’s the thing, we weren’t the only ones who felt ALL the feelings when we said goodbye to our beloved Jon Snow. As it turns out, the President of the United States, Barack Obama himself, also had some serious feelings about this fictional turn of events.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, GOT director David Nutter was recently in the presence of Obama, and, as Nutter told EW at Comic Con, he got an earful from the Commander-in-Chief.

“[Obama] turned to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, ‘You didn’t kill Jon Snow did you?’” Nutter explained.

So yeah, what DID Nutter have to say for himself?

“I said, ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead,’” Nutter told EW. “I thought I was going to be sent to Guantanamo or something, but fortunately I’m here — but he’s dead.”

And Obama did NOT like that response (you and me both, Mr. President, you and me both)

“You keep killing off my favorite characters,” Obama chastised Nutter.

The GOT crew may be able to shrug off fan outrage, but certainly they can’t so easily ignore a pissed-off President. We still haven’t given up hope that Snow makes a magical recovery just in time for Season 6.  After all, Kit Harington can’t just be keeping his hair that long for, like, fun. We’ll keep holding out hope. President Obama, totally feel free to join the “Jon Snow Lives” club, on Wednesdays we write fanfic.
