Calm down — Warner Bros. is *also* making a Joker movie with Jared Leto
It’s been a big week for fans of the Joker. We just found out that there’s a Joker and Harley Quinn movie in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And this news arrives right after a Joker origin-story film was announced. So if you’re a fan of the Joker, WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.
And same goes to Jared Leto devotees. Since he won’t star in the aforementioned origin story, and since he wasn’t in Suicide Squad nearly as much as we expected, it’ll be nice and interesting to see him expand the role in this twisted love story — and hopefully, we’ll get a bit more of him in Suicide Squad 2 as well.
But let’s get back to the project at hand.
This is a Joker and Harley Quinn movie. So, yeah. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is a thing we’re getting more of, and that has us feeling #BLESSED.
What’s more, the film will be “criminal love story,” according to a THR source. Another called it “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.”
We don’t know if the film will precede or follow Suicide Squad (though it’s rumored to follow). But we do know some of the filmmaking team very likely to be involved.
Glenn Ficarra and John Requa — the filmmakers behind This Is Us and Crazy, Stupid, Love — are in final talks to write and direct the movie.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see the brilliant minds behind This Is Us take on a very different project, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
