John Oliver is releasing a children’s book about a bunny for the sole purpose of trolling Mike Pence

As the various scandals, mishaps, and legal issues of Donald Trump continue to dominate the media, John Oliver and the Last Week Tonight crew are turning their efforts toward another member of the Trump administration: Vice President Mike Pence. During a time when the White House seems to be emptying faster than a sinking ship and special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia looms large, it’s important to remember just how dangerous Pence actually is — and we don’t just have to take Omarosa’s word for it.
On Sunday’s (March 18th) Last Week Tonight, John Oliver delved into the deeply troubling positions of the vice president who, as Oliver pointed out, is the only person in the White House Trump can’t actually fire. Oliver recounted Pence’s belief that women shouldn’t be allowed in the military — and yes, he actually hates Mulan because of it — his ability to lie for the president, and his abhorrent views on gay marriage and the rights of LGBTQ people in general. The Last Week Tonight host called out everything from the dangerous things Pence has said about LGBTQ rights and his policies as governor of Indiana to his continued close ties to anti-LGBTQ organization Focus on the Family.
But John Oliver didn’t just come for Mike Pence on his show.
Rather, he’s taking his trolling to a whole new level, and he’s inviting everyone to take part. With the Pence family releasing a brand new children’s book starring their pet rabbit Marlon Bundo, Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President, the HBO series decided to release its own children’s book starring Marlon Bundo.
And during the show, Oliver officially launched A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo.
But while the rabbit stars in both books, Oliver pointed out that the Last Week Tonight book, written by Jill Twiss, has one major difference: “Our story is about Marlon Bundo falling in love with another boy rabbit, because our Marlon Bundo is gay, just like the real Marlon Bundo.”
Oliver also announced that all proceeds from the Last Week Tonight book will be going to The Trevor Project and AIDS United. As of today, the book has officially become the number one best seller on Amazon. There’s also an audiobook version available on Audible read by several celebrities, including Ellie Kemper, RuPaul, Jim Parsons, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
And for those thinking that A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo is just another stunt, the one-time megachurch leader assured fans that the book *is* meant to troll Mike Pence but is also a very real children’s book. Oliver said, “This is a real children’s book. This isn’t some adult book telling Mike Pence to go fuck himself. Although, in buying it, that’s exactly what you’d be doing.”
