So, John Legend will actually sing Emma Stone’s iconic solo song from “La La Land” at the Oscars
It’s hard for us to pick a favorite song from La La Land, but Emma Stone’s solo performance of “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” near the end of the movie is pretty high on the list.
So imagine our excitement in learning that Stone’s La La Land co-star John Legend is going to be performing not one but two songs from the movie at the 2017 Oscars this Sunday — and one of them is Stone’s “Audition (The Fools Who Dream).”
But that’s not all. Legend will also be crooning audience favorite “City of Stars,” the song made famous by both Stone and her onscreen love interest Ryan Gosling. The song has already snagged the Golden Globe for Best Original Song and the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Song.

While Legend doesn’t perform either of these songs in the film, he does play a huge role as Sebastian’s friend, mentor, and bandmate Keith. Plus, we’d listen to him sing the U.S. Constitution tbh, so we are 100% on top of his renditions of any and all of this flawless soundtrack.
“City of Stars” and “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” are both nominated for Academy Awards in the Original Song category, alongside “Can’t Stop The Feeling” from Trolls, “The Empty Chair” from Jim: The James Foley Story, and “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana. Justin Timberlake, Sting, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be on hand to belt out these three tunes, respectively.
Excuse us while we practice our dance moves.
Is it too presumptuous of us to say that this quartet of performances is enough, by itself, to get us to keep our eyes (and ears) glued to the Oscars telecast this Sunday? We’ll come for the music, but we’ll stay for the Chrissy Teigen-in-the-audience heart-eye moments.
