This is the last award John Legend needs to have an EGOT
Watch out, world, because one half of your favorite celebrity couple could be the next Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony-holder. That person would be John Legend, whose EGOT status is just one award away from becoming a reality.
The “Love Me Now” singer took home his first Tony Award Sunday for his work on the play revival Jitney, for which he served as one of eight producers.
Those of you keeping count know he already won an Oscar in 2015 for co-writing “Glory” with Common for the amazing movie Selma — which nabbed the Best Original Song award. And his Grammy wins are too many to name separately, but FYI, he’s had 10.
This means an Emmy is the last remaining award John Legend needs to become a full-fledged EGOT, and yes, wife Chrissy Teigen is aware.

And just because she’s hilarious and forever our queen, here’s Chrissy tweeting about being in NYC for last night’s glamorous event.

But seriously, guys, all John needs is this Emmy, and it is 100 percent within reach. Sadly, his show Underground — on whichhe served as an executive producer — was recently canceled, BUT that doesn’t mean much. In fact, he’s determined to find a new home for this amazing series.

In a separate tweet, John made a great point about quality content, and how it always “wins,” writing, “We’re not reliant on a particular network to make great content. We’re so proud of our show and the audience that supported!”

There’s always Rainbow Crow, too — the animated virtual-reality series John stars in and executive produced, which made its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTm1wPqF4YQ
Sure, he’s busy touring right now with his adorable family (baby Luna is on the tour bus!), but we have faith that John will find the time to nab that Emmy.
After all, between being an amazing dad, making music, acting, and even gushing about and supporting his gorgeous, hilarious, and equally talented/badass wife, there’s pretty much nothing he can’t do.
