John Green’s book isn’t even finished, and it’s already getting killer reviews

For those of us who sighed, smiled and sobbed our hearts out over The Fault in Our Stars, we’re in luck. John Green is writing another book.

That being said, there’s not much more to know about it yet other than the fact that it’s being written. On his personal Tumblr page, Green said that it “has no title and will not come out next year.” That news should be enough to sustain us, right?

Funny enough, this new untitled book with no future publication date in sight already has a 4.2 out of 5 star rating average on Goodreads. That’s because Goodreads has a system where it’s possible for readers on the site to rate a book as long as it has its own profile — even if it hasn’t come out yet.

So for other authors like J.K. Rowling or George R.R. Martin (both of whom are in the process of writing new books) – they can merit a high average simply because their fans are excited enough about the upcoming release to give a premature rating. (For example: J.K. Rowling’s newest book in the Cormoran Strike series, which she pens under the name Robert Galbraith, has already racked up a 3.67 out of 5 stars — but that’s only based on 6 ratings.)

There’s nothing wrong with being hopefully optimistic, but this is remarkable. Here’s what one reviewer wrote: “Even though I literally have no idea on the subject of the title and the plot of this book, I am dying to read it and I just know that I’ll love it because this is another novel by my favorite author/nerdfighter. ’nuff said.” Fair ’nuff. Frankly, we’re pretty sold already too.
