John Boyega just shared a touching Instagram tribute to Carrie Fisher, and our hearts are heavy again
Yesterday, we were all shocked and saddened by the news that beloved actress, writer, mental health advocate, and all-around badass Carrie Fisher had died. Since the news broke, many of Fisher’s costars and friends, including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, and George Lucas have released statements expressing sadness over her death. John Boyega, who played Finn in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, is the latest of Carrie’s costars to comment on her passing.
John took to Instagram and Twitter to express his condolences. He wrote,
“My heart is heavy but I'm grateful that I got to know her. I'll cherish the memories, conversations and her consistent support. Rest well.
John also shared a photo of himself with Carrie and Mark taken during the press tour for The Force Awakens, captioning the photo with a simple heart emoji.
Carrie had completed her work on Star Wars Episode VIII so fans will get to see General Leia Organa back in action, once again. While Carrie was so much more than just Princess Leia, her role as a strong woman in a boy’s club was truly groundbreaking for girls watching Star Wars. By returning to the Star Wars universe for a new generation of stories, Carrie showed us that Leia never stopped being a badass.
