John Boyega almost missed the “Last Jedi” premiere, and this story is so dramatic it should be “Episode IX”

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Except when the snow causes flight cancellations and you end up almost missing your fancy Hollywood movie premiere. After snow slammed parts of the country this past week, actor John Boyega nearly missed the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere on Saturday, December 9th.

Boyega was stranded in Atlanta, Georgia. He needed to get to Los Angeles, but flights at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport were grounded because of the snow. Suddenly, the actor’s attendance at the premiere was seriously in question. He took to Twitter with his plight, saying that he needed a pilot ASAP. Of course, his predicament cued up a ton of Star Wars jokes. But even his co-stars and colleagues were concerned. The film’s director, Rian Johnson, tweeted at him, “Get here John!”

Luckily, he was able to get on a flight to Los Angeles and arrive at the premiere just in the nick of time. Which is good, because we cannot wait to see him reprise his role of Finn in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. For a while, things looked bleak. He tweeted that no flights were leaving Atlanta, and it seemed like he might not make it back in time.

Twitter loved this bit.

Thankfully, Boyega got on a flight!

He didn’t have any luggage, but he made it.

At least he had time to shower.

And even crack a father/son joke with Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

In the end, Boyega showed up at the Last Jedi premiere looking dapper.

And not at all like he’d just had the travel day from hell.

Even though things seemed dire, we’re glad he kept the faith — or, shall we say, the force. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming of counting down the days until Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th.
