John Boyega catches Pokemon on “Star Wars” set, reminding us he’s the best

In case you’ve been on some kind of yogic technology retreat for the last month, or have just been living under a rock, the Pokémon craze is back with a vengeance thanks to Pokémon Go. false
It’s led to hundreds of people swarming Central Park en masse, and to seemingly infinite internet think pieces. And as it turns out, even Star Wars actor John Boyega is obsessed.
In a recent interview with TechCrunch, the actor, who will reprise his role as Finn in Star Wars: Episode VIII said,
“I found a Pikachu at Pinewood Studios while filming Star Wars. I told EVERYBODY. ‘I got a Pikachu!’ I was the most popular kid on set for like a day.”

Proving that he truly gets us, Boyega talked about how Pokémon is an important and interesting social force, bringing strangers together who may not otherwise occupy the same spaces. He went on to say,
“I was in Boston a few days ago and I thought there was like a fight going on, there were so many people crowding… I was like, what’s going on ? Oh, they’re just playing Pokemon. It’s great the ways technology has brought us all together. It’s a very interesting time.”
When he’s not storm trooping or winning our hearts with adorable tales of Pokémon geekdom, Boyega is working on a film about the Detroit riots directed by Kathryn Bigelow, and is preparing for his live theater debut.
Sigh. What a guy.
