NOT A DRILL: J.K. Rowling just sold a TV series

Big things are happening for the creator of that one teeny tiny franchise you may have heard of — you know,Harry Potter. HBO picked up J.K. Rowling’s series Cormoran Strike, which will be a limited TV drama based on Rowling’s bestselling crime novels.

Considering pretty much everything that Rowling touches turns to gold, and considering how great these novels are, chances are this TV series is also going to be incredible.

Using the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, Rowling has written three novels in the series: The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm, and Career of Evil. The stories focus on army veteran-turned-private investigator Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin as they work on murder cases from their dingy central London offices.

Within one year of the first book’s publication, BBC One announced that it was adapting it for TV. BBC One will be producing the drama with Rowling’s production company, Brontë Film and Television.

And now HBO has acquired the US and Canadian rights, which means HBO will continue to be home to some of the greatest shows on television.

British actor Tom Burke (he was in War and Peace and The Musketeers) is set to star in Cormoran Strike, which will air on HBO as three separate events — the three-hour The Cuckoo’s Calling, the two-hour The Silkworm, and the two-hour Career Of Evil, according to Deadline.

We’re already obsessed with the novels, so naturally, we can’t wait to see how they play out on TV. Cormoran and Robin forever!

Filming will take place in London starting this fall.
