Family shares touching note and wreath J.K Rowling sent to an Orlando victim’s funeral

The Harry Potter fandom is a strong bond filled with love and acceptance, which is why J.K. Rowling was so affected by the death of Luis Vielma, a 22-year-old Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter employee who was killed during the mass shooting in Orlando last weekend. While the author initially posted a tweet in remembrance of Luis, she later did something even more incredible: she sent a note and a wreath to his funeral. false

The very message of J.K. Rowling’s seven-book series is that love conquers hate, and she proved it by giving all the love she could to Luis and his family and friends, following up the wonderful tweet with flowers and a note sent to Luis’s memorial service.

“To Luis, who died for love,” the note reads. “You will never be forgotten. J.K. Rowling.”

While nothing could make Luis’s death any less devastating to his loved ones, J.K. Rowling’s acknowledgment and support was much-needed. It just goes to show that, no matter what, the Harry Potter community will be there for one another, even if there are oceans between them.

We know this gesture filled Luis’s friends and family with as much love and warmth as it did us, and we know that his legacy will live on forever.
