JK Rowling is officially back to work with ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’
After what has felt like months of build up, the next Harry Potter has officially begun filming! And to that we say, FINALLY. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Went into principal production yesterday. That means that the actors are on set, they’re in costumes, the cameras are rolling, and they’re making movie magic in more ways than one.
The movie’s filming at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, which is where all previous eight Harry Potter films were filmed, too. The movie has something else all other eight movies had, and that’s JK Rowling. She wrote the script for the film, and as you’ll happily recall, has been teasing us for the past few months with details of the movie. She even dropped a brand new little tidbit as soon as this past weekend, revealing the last names of the sisters, Tina and Queenie, in the movie: Goldstein.
And then Rowling teased us again with the news that filming had begun, which means each and every day we are one step closer to seeing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them with our own eyes.
Eddie Redmayne is going to play Newt Scamander, who’s on a quest to find fantastic beasts (and wrote a pretty great textbook about these beasts, too); Colin Farrell plays a wizard named Graves; Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol play sisters Tina and Queenie, respectively; Ezra Miller plays a character that still hasn’t been announced yet, and this is very exciting, but is also driving us crazy at the same time because we must KNOW. There will, of course, be other surprise along the way, and we love surprises. But then on the other hand, we really do love knowing absolutely everything about Harry Potter‘s world, too.
We can start yelling accio, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as loud as we want, but the movie’s not going to appear in front of us just yet. It’s slated for release on November 18th, 2016. It might seem like a long time away, but if Rowling keeps dropping hints on Twitter for the next 14 months, time will fly by.
