Say it ain’t so! J.K. Rowling says she’s 100% DONE with Harry Potter now
As you probably know, our love for Harry Potter stretches far and wide. Two days ago we reported on the Harry Potter Go game announcement that spawned global excitement, and then yesterday it was Harry Potter’s birthday! Naturally, the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has brought back all our warm and fuzzy memories of the the beloved book series.
But according to the wizard mastermind herself, J.K. Rowling, that’s the last we’ll be seeing of Harry and his friends.
A world without Harry Potter is sad, but we must face reality.
At the premiere of the two-part play in London, Rowling confirmed the news to Reuters that is making our hearts heavy. “He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know.”
At least Rowling is leaving us with good things. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (which is sold out until May 2017, of course) sees Harry as a middle-aged wizard (married to Ginny!) working at the Ministry of Magic. They even have a son named Albus who’s entering the big wide wizarding world!
The play has received overwhelming praise so far, because literally everything Rowling touches turns to gold. “So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now,” said Rowling. The script/book is currently available for our reading pleasure, which is silver lining to this news.
The other silver lining is that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is being released in November this year, so we still have more to look forward to. Oh, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to Broadway! So, everything is going to be okay. Phew.
We love you Harry, Ron and Hermione, always and forever!
