JK Rowling is working on her first children’s book since ‘Harry Potter.’ Commence freakout!

Guys, we have some news for you. And you may want to sit down, because this one’s a major doozy.

So our queen of the wizarding world, JK Rowling, has worked on several books since the Harry Potter series ended (*sob*). In 2012, she wrote The Casual Vacancy, while from 2013 – 2015, she’s been working on the Cormoran Strike series (The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm, and Career of Evil, all of which were written under her Robert Galbraith pseudonym). These were all a major departure from Harry Potter, partially because they’re adult books, and partially because, well, it’s Harry Potter we’re talking about here.

Recently, however, she spoke with Stephen Mayo for the BBC Radio 2 Book Club, and GUYS, THE NEWS IS VERY, VERY GOOD.

“I will definitely write more novels as J. K. Rowling,” she said in the interview. “Novels in the plural, I have so many ideas in my head. I have an idea for a children’s book. Actually I have written part of a children’s book that I really love so I’m definitely going to finish that.”

OH HAPPY DAYS. And it looks like we’ll have no shortage of stories from JK, who says that she has so many in her head that she feels like she doesn’t have enough time to get them all out. “I sometimes genuinely worry that I’ll die before writing them all out,” she said in the interview. “That’s my mid-life crisis, that I’ll leave this earth without having written them all.”

The only children’s book JK has written since the end of the Harry Potter series was related to the last book — The Tales of Beetle the Bard in 2008. We’re still unsure whether this new book she’s working on will be related to the wizarding world we all know and love oh so much, but she did say in relation to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child:
