J.K. Rowling just dropped a hint about the plot of “Fantastic Beasts 2” on Twitter

J.K. Rowling is a gift to this planet — whether it’s her contributions to the world of entertainment through her creation of Harry Potter or her contributions to society through her truth-telling with panache on Twitter. So when Rowling tweets, we listen (err, read). And her latest set of tweets gives some clues about Fantastic Beasts 2.

The second installment of the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them won’t be coming out until 2018, but Rowling’s tweets indicate that she’s working on rewrites for the movie. We already know truly exciting facts like that Jude Law will be a young Dumbledore (swoon!) and that Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander will have a brother, so what other fun facts does Rowling have in store for us Potter fans?!

Well, based on her tweets, she is hard at work on tweaking the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts 2. right now.

First off, we didn’t even know “daren’t” was a legitimate word, but secondly, thinking about Rowling’s genius mind actively writing the words for her second screenplay makes us giddy. And Rowling’s tweet understandably led to fans tweeting at her and asking questions about the next movie in the Harry Potter universe.

The author showed her appreciation for one fan who wrote that “Something good is coming!!” — proving that Rowling isn’t always confident in her words, although she totally should be.

While most of her responses to fans didn’t really provide any big insights into the second Fantastic Beasts movie, one tweet did. A fan pleaded to know what Newt’s patronus is and Rowling responded saying it was a “big spoiler.”

Knowing how meaningful a wizard’s patronus is to her or him, she’s keeping her wizarding cards close to her vest. But one theory that Mashable threw out there is that Newt’s patronus might have something to do with his relationship to Leta Lestrange, who more than likely is a relative of the Lestrange family — you know, that fam that has an affinity for the Dark Arts.

If Newt’s anything like Severus Snape, maybe his patronus will be representative of his love for Leta, which is why Rowling doesn’t want to reveal it.

Excuse us while we go cry about Snape and his neverending love for Lily Potter and his doe patronus for a moment.

While we don’t know exactly why Newt’s patronus is such a spoiler, Rowling’s tweet just gave us enough to theorize about as she continues to perfect Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2. And be sure to keep following Rowling on Twitter for more clues as she gets closer to finishing this highly-anticipated and totally magical sequel.
