This video of Jimmy Fallon rocking out with Metallica on classroom instruments is simply a must-see

Whenever The Tonight Show unleashes a video with classroom instruments, it’s weirdly heartwarming and nostalgic. The same can be said for their most recent installment of rock — Jimmy Fallon jammed with Metallica for a cover of their hit song “Enter Sandman” during last night’s show. (Of course, The Roots offered some incredible background instrumentals as well. Between all of them, they really made classroom instruments sound impeccably great.)

In the past, Fallon chose songs and musicians to collaborate with whose music could easily be adapted to the crazy assortment of instruments. He’s covered “All I Want For Christmas is You” with Mariah Carey, “Call Me Maybe” with Carly Rae Jepsen, and adorably enough, the theme to Sesame Street with the Muppets.

Metallica’s song might have been his most difficult yet, but he still pulled it off:

It’s so sweet seeing Fallon wear a Metallica tee (perhaps their most circulated tee ever!) and James Hetfield donning a shirt from The Tonight Show. It just shows how much respect they have for each other!

Even non-fans of Metallica have probably heard “Enter Sandman” at some point in their lives. Released in 1991, it was the first hit released from their fifth album, which was self-titled.

Since, it’s topped a bunch of best-of music lists, and has been covered by multiple musicians, from Reel Big Fish to Sum 41.

We’re totally loving these classroom instrument videos, and hope that Jimmy Fallon continues to make them well into the new year!
