Jillian Michaels’ proposal to her girlfriend might be the most romantic engagement ever
Fitness guru Jillian Michaels just proposed to long-term girlfriend Heidi Rhoades, and we couldn’t be more excited for the both of them. What makes this story sweeter? How Michaels proposed to Rhoades.
On Tuesday’s season finale of her E! reality show Just Jillian, Michaels invited Rhoades to watch a movie in a private theater. When Rhoades accepted her beloved’s invitation, she had no idea that the romantic tearjerker they were about to watch was their own!
“In a world where it’s tough to connect,” a fake trailer began, “one woman found that someone special and came to discover that where there’s love, there’s hope, happiness, adventure and endless possibilities.” Awwww.
This was followed by a montage of photos of the couple and their children. Cue the tears — including ours.
At the end of the video all of the couples’ friends and family, who were also in attendance, helped Jillian ask the most important question of the night:
“I know I’m an ass—- a lot of the time, but if you will continue to put up with me, I would like you to marry me,” Michaels asked on bended knee when the lights came up. “And even though I gave you that ring, I got a ring.”
“You did? Finally?” Rhoades replied, smiling through her tears before kissing her beloved.
We knew Jillian Michaels was a fitness genius, but she’s a downright goddess when it comes to proposing! Seriously.
Michaels had already given Rhoades a large diamond ring back in 2012 when it was first rumored that the pair were engaged. So this time Michaels, in an act of total badass feminism, gave herself an oversized diamond band while giving her new fiancée a more modest, but equally stunning, band to pair with the one she already had.
Both rings were designed by jeweler (and celebrity-favorite) Martin Katz, with Michael’s ring featuring 17 half-carat emerald-cut diamonds set in a platinum eternity band for a total count of 8.86 carats. Rhoades’ 18-karat white gold eternity band is microset with 153 diamonds for a total of .74 carats. That’s a lot of bling. But, as Michaels made clear on Twitter:
“Heidi is the perfect person for me. The only place where there’s like a solace…a safe-haven is with my family,” Michaels reflected. “And Heidi is the nucleus of that family. She’s the glue that really holds everything together and I think without that, I would be lost.”
Congratulations to the happy couple! We are so thrilled you found each other.
