JGL just conquered Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” on ‘Lip Sync Battle’
Spike’s Lip Sync Battle has given us so many treasures. Seeing stars like Anna Kendrick, Tom Cruise, Taraji P. Henson, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway totally CRUSH it on stage is everything we could ever want. But when we found out Joseph Gordon-Levitt was gonna be performing, we threw our hands up in gratitude to the lip-sync gods, because let’s be real, there’s no such thing as too much JGL.
Last night, the episode aired, and JGL was on with a bunch of his co-stars from their new hilarious Christmas movie, The Night Before (which hit theaters TODAY). So, yeah, naturally that meant JGL and Anthony Mackie were facing off for this week’s LSB, alongside Seth Rogen in a Santa suit.
First, JGL performed Usher’s “Yeah” while Anthony performed Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl,” but TBH, what we’re really totally wowing over was the second round, because guys, it was perfect.
First up was Anthony, who completely rocked MC Hammer’s “2 Legit 2 Quit.” Like, how can anyone follow that? But JGL was, indeed, too legit to quit. He got up there and tackled Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation.” But he didn’t just lip-sync it. No, that’s not enough for JGL. He dressed up like Janet — wig, lipstick, the works — and completely killed that dance routine.
It was pretty much the most amazing. I’m a fan of anything JGL, but even for his high standards, this will go down in history. It takes a lot to conquer a Janet Jackson hit, after all. Check out the clip below and be prepared to laugh and swoon and dance all at the same time.
