Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer are making a Christmas movie together, and is it December yet?
Christmas has come and gone, but in Hollywood, there isn’t really a set time frame for the holiday. TV shows film their Christmas episodes months in advance, and any Christmas-themed movie could take more than a year to plan and film in order to premiere in time for the big event. So while it may seem as though we just celebrated Christmas, Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer are working on a Christmas movie together, and it’s actually perfect timing.
Yes, two of your favorite actresses are teaming up to bring you some good, old-fashioned holiday cheer, and we can pretty confidently guarantee that it won’t be as intense as their 2011 film, The Help. Although, we’re sure it will be great, just in a different way. Because, hello, Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer are both powerhouses, so we obvs can’t wait to see them back at it again! (Best reunion ever, or best reunion ever??)
Not to mention, their holiday flick is a comedy, so you’ll definitely get some much-needed holiday reprieve.
The plot for the untitled flick is mostly under wraps, but as Variety — which broke the news — reports, it will tell the story of “two women fighting the elements to make it home by Christmas.” But actually, Christmas is here early, right? Because this sounds like the best gift.
As for who’s involved behind the scenes, Chastain and Kelly Carmichael handled the original script treatment, with Peter Chiarelli (Crazy Rich Asians) writing the script. Chastain will also produce.
More recently, women are getting their due and the opportunity to shine in hilarious movies. So the fact that this upcoming movie is set to star some pretty badass women — did we mention Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer?! — and has some pretty badass women behind the scenes as well makes it all that much more exciting.
Talk about happy holidays.
