Jessica Alba called herself a feminist at age 5 and we are like YAS

Jessica Alba recently spoke at Forbes’ Under 30 Summit, an annual conference that has been going on for three years now. The Under 30 Summit features “four days of motivating panels, pitch contests, philanthropy, music and food festivals, parties and beyond” and showcases a variety of amazing speakers, including Chrissy Teigen, Michael Phelps, and Ashton Kutcher. So basically this is the best event you’ve never heard of AND it’s kicked off by the U30 music festival. How does it get any better than that? Well, we actually have an answer to that, and you’re going to LOVE it.

In her speech, Jessica Alba revealed that she’s identified as a feminist since she was FIVE YEARS OLD.

We obviously are SUPER here for this. She shared all kinds of wisdom while talking about the process and experience of building the Honest Company over the past few years. And while the Honest Company is known for being, well, honest about its products and what goes into them, Jessica isn’t just looking to make healthy products — she’s also all about being a good example for women, and her daughters.

"I’m showing my girls you can do something when you don’t know what tomorrow’s going to bring. You are doing something you believe in.

And rest assured, Jessica isn’t just the face of her company, or an investor that only appears when it comes to the bottom line. She’s totally involved with the project, a fact which seems very important to her.

"[Women on your team] want to see a woman who’s a leader, who had a good idea, who can sit at the table and who can make good decisions.

We LOVE that Jessica Alba wants to set a good example for her girls and to show women in the work place that they can be in control or a position of power. Since the glass ceiling still very much exists, it’s so inspirational to see a woman who not only has never shied away from the word ‘feminist’ but is all about empowering other ladies.

Keep doing the work, Jessica Alba, we love ya for it.
