Jenny Slate is joining “Muppet Babies,” and we just got our first look at our dream come true
Disney Junior has officially announced who will be stepping into Miss Nanny’s iconic tights in its upcoming Muppet Babies reboot and the choice couldn’t be more fitting. Alongside a behind-the-scenes look at the series, it was revealed that Jenny Slate will be voicing the role of the beloved caretaker, voiced by Barbara Billingsley in the original animated series.
The series follows young iterations of many of the classic Muppets created by Jim Henson — Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Gonzo, and Summer Penguin — as they create, explore, and stretch their imaginations under the loving and watchful eye of Miss Nanny. Like the original series, which ran from 1984 to 1991, Nanny will only be featured from the torso down, but Deadline reports that in the new series, she’ll don different patterned tights each episode.
In the featurette, Jenny Slaterevealed that she was a fan of the original series growing up and was thrilled at the prospect of voicing Miss Nanny. She explained, “I was so excited when they asked me to be Miss Nanny. I was excited in general to hear that the Muppet Babies were returning to television. I am a lifelong Muppet fan. I watched the original show as a kid.”

With her distinctive, excitable voice, Slate couldn’t be a more perfect choice for the genial and encouraging Miss Nanny.
“I think that Miss Nanny really pays attention to each of the Muppets and she sort of accepts their nature, Slate added of the character. “She’s not trying to get Animal to be straight-laced and not be Animal. She’s a good nanny and a good caretaker for them because she nurtures what they have inside of themselves, which is really, really sweet.
