Apparently these two stars were almost in A Star Is Born, and they would have changed everything
Could you picture Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez discussing the ins and outs of eyebrow application? It could have happened, because the two were almost cast as the leads in a remake of A Star is Born. In an interview with Extra on December 10th, the “On the Floor” singer revealed that she and the Suicide Squad actor discussed developing the script at one point.
“Will and I talked about it, talked about developing the script. It just never—projects are like that, she said. “I’m really proud of Bradley for directing his first film. We’re friends, and watching Gaga do her thing in the movie, it’s just great. It’s perfect. It happened. Just like this movie. Everything happens in its own divine timing.
Following several earlier versions, the most take on A Star Is Born follows Ally (Lady Gaga), a struggling musician who meets and falls in love with veteran singer Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper). As Ally’s blossoming career takes off, her relationship with Jackson becomes fractured as he contends with substance abuse and mental illness. The film garnered five nominations for the 2019 Golden Globes, and its lead single, “Shallow,” earned both Cooper and Gaga a Grammy nomination (Cooper’s first).
Meanwhile, Lopez is starring in Second Act alongside Milo Ventimiglia, Vanessa Hudgens, and Leah Remini. The film follows Maya, a disgruntled assistant manager who gets the chance to reinvent her life. Second Act hits theaters on December 21st.
