Jennifer Lopez revealed a video of the moments just before she was lowered onto the halftime show stage

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira joined forces at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show on Sunday, February 2nd, and put on one powerful show. Shakira worked elements from her Arabic background into her performance, and both she and J.Lo incorporated so much of their Latina culture. Energy was high and positivity was radiating from both performers. And now, Lopez has shared a video on Instagram, taken moments before she hit the stage, and the excitement is palpable.

Things got political during Sunday’s performance when Lopez brought her daughter Emme out, backed by a crowd of young dancers—some of whom were in lit-up cages, in reference to the migrant detention camps at the U.S. border. It was clear that Shakira and Lopez wanted to preach the importance of girl power, celebrating what makes us unique, and how we should unite to use our voices and make a difference.

"These moments were captured just minutes before we hit the stage last night," Lopez captioned the two-minute video, uploaded to her Instagram on February 3rd. "All I want my girls, the little girls on stage with me and all over the world to know is how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are. We are proud to recognize that all of us together are what makes this beautiful country truly great."

Chills. We have chills!

In a society that loves to pit famous women against each other, the fact that Shakira and J.Lo—each a powerhouse in her own right—came together to send a message of unity, love, and sisterhood is about as feel-good as it gets.

We got loud about this halftime show, and we’re going to stay loud in order to keep the ideas of individuality and togetherness alive. Our queen, Jennifer Lopez, demands it so.
