Three cheers for female celebrities promoting feminism, especially when they’re supporting each other while doing it. After Jennifer Lawrence’s essay “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?” landed in the inboxes of Lenny Letter subscribers (you know, that newsletter created by Lena Dunham), it seemed like everyone had something to say about it. Some people felt it was unfair to complain when she was already making so much money, but others, like Emma Watson, praised Lawrence’s ability to so powerfully describe such a universal problem.

Emma Watson has always been a vocal proponent for feminism and equality, as evidenced by her #HeForShe campaign she launched with the UN, and the comments she made earlier this year about sexism in the entertainment industry when she said, “I have experienced sexism in that I have been directed by male directors 17 times and only twice by women. Of the producers I’ve worked with 13 have been male and only one has been a woman.”
