Jennifer Lawrence still loves her ex, Darren Aronofsky — and girl, we’ve been there

Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky may no longer be in a relationship, but the Silver Linings Playbook actress still has a lot of love for her director ex. The actress recently appeared on podcast WTF with Marc Maron, where she opened up about her relationship with the Mother! director.

On the podcast, Jennifer Lawrence said after being a fan of Aronofsky’s for years, she officially became enamored with the Black Swan director after they met to discuss working together on Mother! She added that after their hour-and-a-half long meeting, she was very attracted to him — but he played hard to get. She told Maron, “He played hard to get for like nine months, maybe longer, which just killed me.”

The actress also revealed that while the pair may have differing opinions regarding how long their relationship actually lasted, she was in love with him for two years.

She said, "I had been saying two years for so long and he was like, ‘It's been, like, six months!' I think two years. I mean, I was in love with him for like, two years."

But while Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky are no longer in a relationship, and went their separate ways in November, Lawrence told Maron that she still has a lot of love for Aronofsky. On whether the feelings suddenly went away after being in love with him for two years, Lawrence said, “No, I still love him very much. Oh my god. I don’t want to talk about this anymore! I’m oversharing.”

The actress also told Maron that she wasn’t able to make it through Phantom Thread because it was too reminiscent of her own experience with an ex.

Revealing that she only got through the first three minutes of the film, Lawrence said, “Is it just about clothes? Is [Daniel Day-Lewis’ character] kind of like a narcissistic sociopath and he’s an artist so every girl falls in love him because he makes her feel bad about herself and that’s the love story? I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know. I’ve been down that road, I know what what’s like, I don’t need to watch that movie.”

She immediately added that the Reynolds Woodcock of her life was not Aronofsky and the two continue to speak fondly of each other post-breakup. While Jennifer and Darren are no longer a couple, we’re glad they still have love and respect for each other.
