Jennifer Lawrence talks about her relationship with Nicholas Hoult for the first time since their break-up

The final installment of The Hunger Games is almost here, which means we’ve had more Jennifer Lawrence in our lives lately (which is totally OK with us). The Oscar winning actress recently sat down with Diane Sawyer to talk movies, the gender pay gap, and getting over a breakup… Yes, even J.Law gets her heart broken.

For the first time since they broke up, Lawrence talked about her split from fellow actor and X-Men costar Nicholas Hoult. They met while filming X-Men: First Class, back in 2009, and the two were together for 5 years before going their separate ways in August 2014.

“These movies had been my life for so long and they had to come first in everything,” she said. “I was also in a relationship with somebody for five years and that was my life. So my life was this person and these movies and we broke up around the same time that I wrapped those movies. Being 24 was this whole year of, ‘Who am I without these movies? Who am I without this man?’”

Oh man, we get it. It’s brutal enough letting go of a longtime love in your early twenties without having the whole world watch. Lawrence also mentioned that she’s not sure marriage will ever be for her, and we totally understand. Marriage isn’t for everyone, and it’s definitely normal to feel ambivalent or even confused by it.

“I don’t know if I ever will get married and I’m O.K. with that,” she said. “I don’t feel that I need anything to complete me. I love meeting people, men, women, whatever, I love people coming into your life and bringing something.”

This isn’t the only recent time Lawrence has gotten candid about her love life. The actress expressed her dating struggles to this month’s Vogue, saying “No one ever asks me out. I am lonely every Saturday night. Guys are so mean to me. I know where it’s coming from, I know they’re trying to establish dominance, but it hurts my feelings. I’m just a girl who wants you to be nice to me. I am straight as an arrow. I feel like I need to meet a guy, with all due respect, who has been living in Baghdad for five years who has no idea who I am.”

It’s hard to believe that someone who looks so effortlessly confident can also feel insecure and lonely – but even celebs aren’t immune to heartbreak. As always, we love J.Law for her honesty and her openness —and we can’t wait to see her on the big screen next week when Mockingjay Part 2 comes out.
