Jennifer Lawrence dropped some insider ‘Mockingjay’ info for us to fangirl about

Wow, we cannot believe that it’s almost time for the final installment of The Hunger Games! Okay, so technically there is more than a month before The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 hits theaters, but we are already getting all the feels. The movie will be released on November 20, so mark your calendars now! (Oh and tickets are officially on sale, so if you want to see it at midnight like a mega fangirl, act now.)

Although fans are SO excited to see the next film, it does mean saying goodbye to characters we’ve come to love, especially Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. Luckily Jennifer Lawrence, AKA the badass who plays the equally-awesome Katniss Everdeen, has new info all about the final film to hold over all of her fans and get them even more excited for the upcoming film. Trust us, this one’s going to be totally epic. Since we’ve loved all the films, it’s safe to say this one will be the cherry on top of an iconic franchise.

When Jen sat down with Entertainment Weekly and her two very handsome costars, Josh Hutcherson (he plays Peeta in case you need a refresher) and Liam Hemsworth (who plays the super-serious Gale), she opened up about the scene she was most excited and somewhat worried to shoot. Side note: Mockingjay — Part 2 took 152 days to shoot!

“I was excited about the scene at the end of the movie when I shoot my arrow — I won’t give it away — because when I was doing my archery training at age 20, that was always the scene I pictured. Five years ago I used to look at a stack of hay and pretend that it was this moment, and now it is here,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“You were particularly nervous about the singing scene [from Mockingjay — Part 1]. We all know that,” Liam added, highlighting about Jen’s well-documented fear of singing in the movie. “She was so worried about it, I assumed that she must have a bad voice. And she did it and I’m like, ‘Jen, it’s actually good.’ She’s like, ‘Shut up!’”

“I only snapped at you because who else was I gonna snap at?” Jen joked.

“No, I know. I’m your punching bag, man. Don’t worry about it,” Liam said.

And, not missing a beat, Jen quipped back, “But I can never be yours. Don’t you dare start thinking that’s a two way street.” Seriously, could the dynamics between these costars get any better? It’s one of the biggest reasons the franchise is SO successful (that and the amazing books they’re based on, duh).

The cast also opened up about being a part of such a big cultural phenomenon and the emotions that come with it. “It’s like you’re an avatar of yourself,” Jennifer explained to EW.

Then, she and Liam went on to do some adorable sentence-finishing. “You get back into the car after a premiere and it’s dead silent and you’re like…” he started. “I’m glad that’s over,” Jen added, finishing his thought perfectly. Guess that kind of mental connection is what working together for years on one of the world’s biggest film franchises does for a friendship.

Despite the pressures of being a part of the now-iconic films, the 25-year-old actress is very pleased with her role in the movies and the friendships with her two male costars. “If we had met each other in any different circumstance, we would still be best friends,” she revealed. Well, now our hearts are swelling. Thanks for that, Jen.

“And our love is as close to unconditional as it gets because there’s no fear between us because we love each other so much. There’s no fear in our love,” she added. Aw! How do we get invited to hangout with this trio? Wouldn’t anyone just LOVE to be the fourth friend in this group?

With The Hunger Games series is finally coming to an end there is already a huge void in our hearts for the cast and stories. Luckily, we can reread this interview over and over again until the last film hits theaters next month. Plus, there is even more juice on the final film in Entertainment Weekly’s newest edition (on stands this week), so that should help ease your pain, too.

PS: We are SO excited to see Jennifer kick butt one last time! She is after all slaying it both on screen and in real life, so yeah, we’re a little obsessed with her.
