Jennifer Lawrence picked her Golden Globes dress because she was on her period and just wanted to be comfortable

Jennifer Lawrence has rocked some memorable looks on the red carpet in the last few years. There was the gorgeous number that she wore to the 2013 Oscars (and famously tripped in on her way up to the stage). There was the sleek white dress she wore to the 2014 Golden Globes (and promptly photobombed Taylor Swift). At this year’s Golden Globes, Jennifer chose a beautiful red ensemble that perfectly complemented her fit physique. But it turns out, that was her backup dress. And the reason she went with plan B will make you LOL forever: It’s because she had her period.

“Plan A was a dress that I couldn’t wear because awards season is synced with my menstrual cycle, and it has been for years,” the actress said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Even though it was her backup, the red Dior gown was a smash hit. Jennifer looked fabulous, and was bestowed the title of “best dressed” by many lists. She had a lot of screen time at the award show as a presenter, nominee, and winner for Best Actress for her role in Joy.

“It was loose at the front. And I didn’t have to worry about sucking anything in,” she continued. “The other dress was really tight, and I’m not going to suck in my uterus. I don’t have to do that.”

Lesson learned: There’s no event too glamorous and no award show too high-profile where you still can’t just wear what you want to wear. Feeling comfortable is what it’s all about!
