Emma Stone gets candid about being jealous of her best friend Jennifer Lawrence (at first, at least)
Ever wonder how actors up for the same roles are able to stay friends despite the intense competition? According to Jennifer Lawrence, it isn’t as mysterious as it seems. Lawrence, America’s BFF, opened up to Vanity Fair for their December cover story. In the issue, she discusses her upcoming film schedule and even gets a little personal in talking about her famous friends like Emma Stone.
She revealed to VF that she and Stone met through Woody Harrelson, who costarred with Lawrence in the Hunger Games films and Stone in Zombieland.
Lawrence told the mag that Harrelson gave Stone Lawrence’s number, telling her that he thought they’d get along.
Apparently, he was right and the two began texting every day. Lawrence said, “I feel like it was our version of The Notebook—365 texts.”
According to Lawrence, they initially bonded over their love of acting but their personalities clicked, and they quickly became friends. She said,“I love my job. I don’t know what I would be without acting. So if there is someone who loves the same thing, it should bring us closer. But it depends on how that person is, and Emma is so normal and lovely.”
Lawrence also considers herself to be Stone’s biggest fan, adding with the wit we’ve all come to know and love,“If I wasn’t her biggest fan, I would’ve Tonya Harding’d her in the kneecaps.”
For the VF cover profile on Lawrence, Stone gave a similar good-humored response on their friendship. Acknowledging a brief moment where she felt her career was ending upon meeting Lawrence, Stone revealed that she had to remind herself that there was room for everyone in the entertainment industry, even when it doesn’t feel like it. She told the magazine, “We both really do love each other and care about each other as people, beyond being actors. I support her completely when it comes to work and I feel the same from her, but I know we’d be friends even if we didn’t do the same job.”
We’re seriously jealous of their friendship! We love that they acknowledge the constant comparisons but completely have each other’s back, in their careers and in their every day lives.
