Jennifer Lawrence explains why there was no way Anna Faris would be threatened by her
Our best friend – who doesn’t know she’s our best friend – Jennifer Lawrence, is the 2016 cover model for the Vanity Fair holiday issue. The actress sat down with the magazine to talk about her life and success in the six years she’s been beaming in the spotlight. Even with an Oscar and three Golden Globes under her belt, and being marked as the highest-paid actress in Hollywood two years in a row, Lawrence remarkably thinks and acts like any average girl in her mid-20s.
She talked to Vanity Fair about her co-star, Chris Pratt, in their upcoming romantic sci-fi film Passengers. Although we hear horror stories of co-stars falling in love and leaving their spouses for one another, Lawrence assures that Pratt’s spouse, Anna Faris, has no reason to be worried.
She said, “I think women can sense if you are the kind of woman who is going to run off with their husband,” Lawrence explains. “I don’t think I give off that vibe. I give off the ‘Please like me!’ desperation. Which is not threatening.”
Lawrence chalks her on-screen chemistry with Pratt during their love scenes in Passengers up to the fact that Pratt “could have chemistry with a cactus.” And, Jen – don’t downplay yourself! It truly can’t be hard having chemistry with such an ethereal being such as yourself, so give yourself some credit, girl!
Faris, star of Mom on CBS, and Lawrence get along swimmingly. Lawrence appeared on Faris’ podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified to talk about her on-screen romance with the host’s husband. Lawrence was also joined by Audrey Plaza, Pratt’s wife on Parks and Rec.
Pratt, who called into the episode, remarked how strange it was to be on the phone with his real wife, his TV wife, and his fictional space girlfriend in Passengers. Faris, being ~ incredibly chill ~ offered to marry the on-screen couple at the end of the film.
The episode came about after Lawrence described her sex scene with Chris Pratt at a Hollywood Reporter roundtable event. “I had my first real sex scene a couple weeks ago and it was really bizarre. It was really weird,” she said. When asked how she prepared for it, Lawrence blatantly answered, “You drink.”
She admitted she got drunk, even. But being drunk led to anxiety and guilt about kissing a married man. “And I knew it was my job, but I couldn’t tell my stomach that,” Lawrence said. “So I called my mom, and I was like, ‘Will you just tell me it’s OK?’ It was just very vulnerable.”
But everything turned out to be ok in the end. Faris even wrapped up her podcast interview by telling Lawrence, “You know I have a small obsession with you.” Obviously, eternally star-struck Lawrence, returned the compliment.
Passengers hits theaters on December 21st.
