Jennifer Lawrence opens up about what an exhausting thing it is to be JLaw

You guys, we kind of assumed Jennifer Lawrence’s job/life was really, really, really exhausting, but in a recent interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, she opened up about what a grueling thing it is to be, you know, Jennifer Lawrence.

It began when Colbert brought up Lawrence’s legendary relatability.

“You actually seem like a human being,” Colbert says to her. “Do you enjoy being a human being? Because human beings have a lot of frailty…they’re not perfect…you’re a person who doesn’t seem to mind seeming like they’re not perfect.”

“No, I don’t have a choice!” Lawrence laughed and admitted.

She later talked about just how frail and human she often feels when confronted with her enormous life. Her work can take a physical toll (she got a stomach virus while filming a kissing scene for Joy), but unlike most of us who can just call in sick, Lawrence refuses to halt production on account of her health.

“I puked yesterday,” Lawrence  “I’m a puker . . . I don’t stop working because I am a show pony. I don’t have a choice. So I just keep going until eventually my body is like, ‘If we don’t make her barf or pass out, she won’t stop.’ I get like Lindsay Lohan–grade exhaustion, but without any drugs or alcohol. I’m always in bed early. But I’m still tired.”

That said, it sounds like Jennifer Lawrence sounds like she thrives on placing high demands on herself, and in the same interview, she talks about how she thrives on others placing high demands on her as well. When Colbert asked about working with David O. Russell (whom Lawrence has worked with on Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and now this year’s Joy), specifically if Russell was “a shout-y director,” J.Law explained:

With the holidays coming up, we hope Lawrence gets some rest, because it sounds like girl REALLY needs it. Then, in the new year, she can go back to the bananas lifestyle she loves so well
