Jennifer Lawrence is engaged, and here’s everything we know about her new fiancé
Congratulations are officially in order for Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney. The couple is engaged, with Lawrence’s rep confirming the news to People on February 5th. Rumors began swirling that the couple got engaged when they were spotted out in New York City recently, with onlookers reportedly catching a glimpse at a “massive ring” on Lawrence’s finger. She was first linked to Maroney back in June 2018 amid rumors that they were “quietly dating.”

Lawrence hasn’t spoken publicly about her relationship with Maroney yet, so we can’t confirm how they met, but we do know some tidbits about her new beaux. Maroney is reportedly a 34-year-old art gallerist, serving as a director at the Gladstone Gallery in New York City. According to Page Six, the gallery has featured work by artists like Lena Dunham’s dad, Carroll Dunham. An anonymous source revealed that Lawrence and Maroney met through Lawrence’s pal, Laura Simpson, and were “very private and careful not to be seen together” in the early days of their relationship last summer.
They’ve since been spotted out on dates in N.Y.C. and on European getaways, but otherwise appear to be maintaining that private, low-key vibe.
Though he was born in N.Y.C. and lives in the city now, Maroney grew up on a dairy farm in Vermont with his parents, James Maroney and Suki Fredericks, and his younger sister Annabelle. The family helped with field care, farming, and gardening, according to Fredericks in 2015. Maroney’s dad was also an art dealer.
According to The Cut, Maroney studied art history at New York University, working at the Gagosian gallery before landing his current gig. While we don’t know much about their wedding plans just yet, we’re wishing all the best to Lawrence and her soon-to-be husband during this exciting time, and we can’t wait to hear more about their big day.
