Jennifer Lawrence says Adele is just as great a friend as you’d think

Remember when Jennifer Lawrence, Adele, and Emma Stone hung out and gave us total squad goals? They were spotted having a grand old time together, eating dinner at a Mexican restaurant and laughing over tacos. And when Adele performed in Los Angeles in February, Jennifer was there to watch her perform. So it makes sense that Jennifer Lawrence would be the one to write about her bud Adele for Time‘s 100 Most Influential People issue.

In the super sweet essay, Jennifer explained that she and Adele met for the first time back in 2013 at the Oscars. “I remember sneaking backstage while she performed ‘Skyfall,’ trying to squeeze a ball gown past a pile of ropes and cables just to get a little closer,” J-Law gushed.

Although she had always been a fan of Adele, the album 21 made a huge impact on her. “. . . [M]ine and billions of other lives were—not to sound dramatic—changed,” she wrote. “Suddenly there were words to that before — indescribable pain, frustration, sadness, then revolution that all comes from a breakup.”

But 25 is really where it all changed. “The way she is able to capture herself, and then in turn us, has turned her into a star that’s not a star we look at, but a giant star with its own gravity that we are drawn to,” Jen wrote. “”ll of this about her lyrics, and I haven’t even gotten started on the voice—how could I? It’s once-in-a-lifetime. All this about her voice and I won’t have time to talk about her intelligence. Her 500-year-old wisdom. Her patience and kindness all wrapped up in the tough skin of a damn gangster.”

Adele is known for her musical prowess, but she’s so much more than that, Jennifer said. “[W]hat you don’t see is what a wonderful mother she is. What a wonderful partner and friend she is,” she explained. “That she makes her son’s Halloween costumes. Adele is a gift, an international treasure, but she’s also sweet, funny, intelligent and beautiful. Bitch.”

Truly, we could not agree more. Congratulations on being honored by the Time 100, Adele, and in our opinion, there’s no one who could have done your fabulousness more justice than J-Law.
