Jennifer Hudson is set to join “The Voice” next season!
The big red chairs are set to get a new addition, as Jennifer Hudson is joining The Voice.
While the news broke that American Idol was coming back (albeit to a new network), one of the show’s most well known and celebrated alumni has decided that it’s another reality singing contest that’s for her. Jennifer’s move comes after a rather successful stint on the U.K. version of the popular NBC singing show, and follows hot on the heels of the emotive power-ballad “Remember Me.”
The Oscar-winning singer and actor will be joining the coaching panel, which seems to change around regularly. Currently, the 12th season of the show stars Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani, alongside veteran coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
Speaking about Jennifer Hudson’s decision to join the show, NBC Entertainment alternative and reality group president Paul Telegdy praised the Grammy winning performer.
"Jennifer is an extraordinary vocal talent and one of the premier voices of our time. She embodies the experience, expertise, positivity and sheer talent that The Voice stands for, he said. "Her exceptional skills as a singer and actress have extended to film, television and Broadway, which makes her an incredible addition and a natural fit for our show.

Hudson joins Miley Cyrus, who returns for the show’s 13th run, which will see Blake and Adam take up positions as coaches (again).
Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Hudson wrote, “In tears thinking of what this means and represents to me and knowing and walking the journey ! Wow, who would of thought after being a contestant, that one day, I would be sitting in one of those chairs from the U.K. To the u.s! Only God !!!! Oh but I made it ! [sic]”
We couldn’t be happier for J-Hud! Hopefully this means that we’ll get to hear some of her incredible vocal talent, and we just know that she’ll bring something extra special to the show.
